Back Home

Hi everyone and wazusotia! Well were back after an incredible three weeks in Uganda. Its nice to be back home but I definitely miss the YFC staff and the local kids. I really got to know Dragu (far left holding the axe) well and man could he sing! He'd show me the songs he had written and I would play them on the guitar while he sang. His soccer skills were almost as good as his voice... which is saying something. Also in the picture are Dixon (middle) and Mathias (right) who also were great guys to get to know. The pic is part of our group after we dug up and toppled one of the trees at the work site. The last two days that we were in Uganda, our team and part of the YFC staff went on a safari in the eastern part of the country. We saw lions, elephants, giraffe, cape buffalo, hippos, crocs, along with many deer/gazzelle. On the way back we stayed one night in London and got to see Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminsters Abbey. The entire trip was simply amazing, and it was awesome to know that I had people back home praying and caring about the trip! Thanks you all so much for supporting me in numerous ways.
In Him,
Kenneth

Ohyotya from Uganda! Well so far africa has been incredible. We got here early on the 6th (3 am) after four flights and transfers. Amazingly every piece of luggage made it to Uganda with us! For the most part our day goes like this: every morning we wake up at 6:30 often to the howling of the monkeys that frequent our campsite, and have devotions at 7. Breakfasts at 730 and then after that were off to the work site. At the work site were building bricks and removing stumps on the property to make way for the pregnancy center/home for expecting teenage mothers. I dont think ive ever gotten so much dirt on my body from biulding the bricks...it was sweet. We work in the morning and afternoons and then at night there are various activities/missions like soccer or the pregnancy house or a college outreach called survivor. Yesterday we went to one of the local schools and i was asked to talk to the kids about purity right on the spot. The yfc leader paul just called me up front and said "now kens going to talk about purity." I was kinda shocked at first but it turned out to be a really awesome experience. Health wise most of the teams doing great and we appreciate your continued prayers. Well its almost time to go back to the work site. Ill see if i can get on once more to update, but if not ill see everyone back in the states. Thanks for your support.

Mwebaliyno,

Kenneth

Hi, it's actually Kenneth's mom (Kim) just letting everyone know that they did arrive safely in Uganda--maybe late on the 5th, maybe the 6th, I'm not sure... The price for VISAs went up from $30 to $50 on July 1, so they were stuck w/ that additional cost, but they were just glad the whole team made it finally, after the cancellations & delays! Hopefully, Kenneth will be able to update us all before too long??? Thanks for your prayers!
(PS I tried to add the pics, but am not too good at this--can't get it turned around :( The pics are from their departure @ DIA, first w/ Kenneth & Chris having "stroller races" to entertain the 2 yr old twins -- or maybe the guys??, then the second is K sporting his newly cropped hair, ready to check bags.)

Change a Plans

Well it didn't take long for things to not go according to plan :) Our flight today to London got cancelled due to a security breach in the London Heathrow Airport. So... we will leave tomorrow instead and fly Denver to Atlanta, Atlanta to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Nairobi, and finally Nairobi to Uganda. What can I say, our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). So really I should say that we think were leaving tomorrow and we will just hope He's thinking the same thing too.

Heading Out

Hiya everybody! Well the trip is finally here, and we're heading out in about 24 hours! Tomorrow, July 3rd, we'll depart at 8:15 pm from DIA and fly direct to London, and then from London we fly into Uganda. Our team, as pictured, will be building a pregnancy center for single moms during the week and organizing youth soccer matches every Saturday. We will be returning the 20th and we have been told that internet access, if avaliable, will be limited... so I'm not sure how often I will be able to update the blog. If not, I'll update it upon my return. I'd love your prayers for:
-the safety and health of our team
-unity for our team
-that we can assimilate into a different culture
-that God will use us to provide for the needs of the people there and that we can be an encouragement to them
Thanks again for your support and prayers! -Kenneth
